Troposphere
About the IGS/GOP Troposphere-Comparison Website/Database
  • The goal of the IGS tropo-comparison database is to automate the comparison of geodetically derived troposphere estimates obtained from different sources:
    • independent measurement techniques, e.g., GNSS and VLBI
    • independent data processing runs, e.g., CODE and GOP, IGS Final and IGS Repro
  • Data types included in database: GNSS, VLBI, radiosondes, numerical weather values
  • What you can do on this website:
    • Explore what kind of troposphere estimates are available at different locations around the world.
    • Compare answers from different sources (ACs, geodetic techniques).
    • Request data files from the database.
  • When are the values updated?
    • This phase of the project provides past-recorded values (e.g., AC Repro2 GNSS troposphere estimates up through 2014; radiosonde values up through 2016).
    • The next phase will provide access to operational estimates produced by agencies on a regular basis. We anticipate weekly or monthly updates depending on product availability.
  • Who does the work where?
    • The troposphere-comparison database is maintained by Dr. Jan Dousa at the Geodetic Observatory Pecny.
  • How: comparisons between independent techniques are performed according to the models of:
    • J Dousa and M Elias, An improved model for calculating tropospheric wet delay, Geophys. Res. Lett. V41(12), 4389-97, doi:10.102/2014GL06071, 2014.
